SCENT NOTES

Olympus perfectly encapsulates the aroma of snowcapped mountains and Aegean winds. An outdoor, wintery scent, Olympus captures a winter’s night chill with top notes of eucalyptus and lavender. Resinous pine is at the heart of this scent, and it rests on an herbal, woody base of rosemary, cedar, and oakmoss.

Olympus candles are infused with natural essential oils including pine, cypress, eucalyptus, cedarwood, cinnamon bark, cardamom, lavandin, rosemary, cade, cistus extract, guaicwood, and clove bud.

MYTHOS

Mount Olympus is the legendary home of the Olympian gods in Greek mythology, and is normally equated with the mountain of the same name found in modern day Greece. Some say that Mount Olympus was an acropolis in the sky, found far above Mount Olympus, whilst others say the homes of the gods was found at the peaks of the physical mountain.

All twelve Olympian gods were said to have resided in the mountain; Zeus and his wife Hera, Athena, Artemis, Poseidon, Apollo, Hester, Demeter, Aphrodite, Hermes, Ares, and Hephaestus. They would meet daily in Zeus palace in the Pantheon, to discuss the fate of the mortals. Below the Pantheon was Zeus’ Throne – known today as Stefani – from where he would rule both gods and men, hurling thunderbolts to those who disobeyed him.

In myth, the mountain was shrouded from human eyes by clouds which constantly obscured its peaks. The physical Mount Olympus is the highest mountain in Greece, and is actually part of a range of peaks in the Olympus massif. The physical mountain is snowcapped, and in line with the myths, often is shrouded in cloud cover. The mountain has exceptional biodiversity and rich flora. It has became the first National Parkin Greece and is also a World Biosphere Reserve.
