MYTHOS

Persephone was the daughter of Zeus, the king of all gods, and Demeter, the goddess of agriculture. Persephone was gathering flowers in the Vale of Nysa when she was seized by the god Hades and taken to the underworld. Upon learning of the abduction, the inconsolable Demeter became unconcerned with the harvest or the fruitfulness of the earth, so that widespread famine ensued. Zeus then intervened, commanding Hades to release Persephone to her mother.  However, Persephone had eaten a single pomegranate seed in the underworld and so she could not be completely freed. Because of this, Persephone had to remain one-third of the year with Hades and spent the other two-thirds with her mother. The story that Persephone spent four months of each year in the underworld was no doubt meant to account for the barren appearance of Greek fields after harvest, before their revival in the autumn rains, when they are plowed and sown.

Our candles are hand poured in small batches and contain clean-burning premium soy wax, lead-free cotton wicks, as well as fragrance and essential oil blends that are free from phthalates, carcinogens, toxins, animal ingredients, and colorants. These standards provide a clean, long-lasting burn and a captivating experience of unique and inviting scents.

Each candle comes in a modern recyclable cardboard cylinder that keeps wax dust free when the candle is not in use, and makes each candle ready for gifting.

Net weight 9.6oz/272g. Burn time up to 40 hours. 

Burn your candle for one hour the first time you light it to achieve an even burn and prevent future tunneling.

For a clean burn, trim wick before each use. 

Ensure candles are on a suitable heat resistant surface when in use. Never leave a lit candle unattended or alone with children or pets, or near flammable items.  

Our candle labels are curbside recyclable and are categorized under plastic category 4 LDPE, or low-density polyethylene. 

The cardboard tube used to house our candles is curbside recyclable under Cardboard PAP-20.

Our amber glass containers are curbside recyclable under the Mixed Glass category, GL-70.
